MSG Randy Kemper


MSG Randy V. Kemper is the MS I & MS IV Assistant Instructor for the Spartan Battalion. He grew up in Roscommon, Michigan, graduated high school in 2006 and entered the Army in February 2009. MSG Kemper attended basic combat training at Fort Jackson, South Carolina and became a 15R AH-64 Apache Helicopter Repairer at Fort Eustis, Virginia. 

MSG Kemper’s previous duty assignments include C Co 4-2 AVN, Camp Humphries, Korea; D Co 1-501 ARB, Fort Bliss, Texas; B Co 1-501 ARB, Fort Bliss, Texas; B Trp 3-6 CAV, Fort Bliss, Texas; D Trp 3-6 CAV, Fort Bliss, Texas; Aviation Center Logistics Command, Hanchey Army Airfield, Fort Novosel, Alabama; A TRP 6-6 ACS, C TRP 6-6 ACS, Fort Drum, New York; and D TRP 6-6 ACS, Fort Drum, New York.

Throughout his assignments, MSG Kemper held many duty positions which include AH-64D Mechanic, Crew Chief, Squad Leader, Technical Inspector, Quality Assurance Representative/Evaluator, Senior Aviation Maintenance Supervisor, Airfield NCOIC, Flight Troop Platoon Sergeant, Airframe Repair Platoon Sergeant, and Flight Troop First Sergeant. 

MSG Randy Kemper has had two combat deployments. In 2013, he deployed to FOB Fenty, Afghanistan for nine months; and in 2015-2016, he deployed to Camp Taji, Iraq and Erbil, Iraq for nine months. 

MSG Kemper’s military education includes Basic Leaders Course, Field Sanitation Team, Combat Life Savers Course, Combatives Level 1, Advance Leaders Course, Senior Leaders Course, Master Resilience Trainer Course, Contracting Officer Course, Master Driver Course, Technical Transportation of Hazardous Material Course, and Master Leaders Course. MSG Kemper has his Environmental Protection Agency CFC/HCFC Universal Certification and is currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree.

MSG Kemper’s awards and decorations include the Meritorious Service Medal (2), Army Commendation Medal (3), Army Achievement Medal (7), Meritorious Unit Citation, Army Good Conduct Medal (4), NATO Medal, Korean Defense Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, Inherent Resolve Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, NCO Professional Development Ribbon numeral four, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon numeral three, Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal, Drivers Badge, and Master Aviation Badge.

MSG Randy Kemper joined the Spartan Battalion in December 2025.
