Brigadier General Charles M. Sirhal

Charles M. Sirhal received his commission as a second lieutenant in the Military Police Corps in 1951 after receiving a bachelor of science degree in police administration from Michigan State University. He served two years on active duty, including a tour as the provost marshal of Camp Ripley, MN. He has held a number of significant Army Reserve positions throughout his military career, including chief of the Arabic Interpretation Section, 234th Military Intelligence Detachment, Detroit, MI; judge advocate and inspector general for Headquarters, 300th MP Command, Inkster, MI; and commander of the 301st MP PW Camp, also located in Inkster, MI. He became chief of staff of the 300th Military Police Command in August of 1975 and held that position until becoming commander, having been promoted to brigadier general on August 22, 1978.

General Sirhal graduated from the Judge Advocate General School in 1964, the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College in 1969, and from the Senior Officers Refresher Course at the U.S. Army War College.

General Sirhal earned his bachelor of law degree in 1957 and a doctor of law degree in 1968, both from the Detroit College of Law. He maintains an active private law practice in Bloomfield Hills, MI, specializing in corporate, contract, probate, negligence and workmens' compensation cases. He retired in 1984 from the Wayne County Road Commission as principal attorney after having served on their legal staff for 30 years.

In recognition of the great credit his exemplary service, superior leadership, and dedication to duty has brought to Michigan State University and the United States Army, Brigadier General Charles M. Sirhal is inducted into the MSU Army ROTC Hall of Fame, this sixth day of May two thousand, in the one hundred fifteenth year of Military Science at MSU.
